The non-invasive CT-FFR method for evaluating blood flow in coronary arteries provides accuracy rates as high as 92%. This method reduces the need for invasive procedures like coronary angiography and helps avoid other tests such as stress echocardiograms or MRIs, saving patients time, costs, and potential complications.

Dr. Mansour explained that with CT scanning, blockages in the coronary arteries can be detected, and FFR CT takes it further by measuring blood flow past the blockages at multiple points along the artery. Unlike traditional invasive FFR, which only gives a reading at a single segment, this advanced technology is now available at CMC, making it the first in Lebanon and the Middle East to offer care comparable to Europe and North America.

The introduction of the Revolution APEX Cardiac CT scanner marks a significant milestone, as it reduces radiation exposure and contrast dye usage, making the process safer, especially for patients with kidney issues. The most remarkable feature of the new Cardiac CT technology is the Single Beat Acquisition, which captures all necessary data in a single heartbeat, eliminating the need for the patient’s heart rate to be slowed down, as required by previous devices. This advancement allows for the scanning of patients with higher heart rates, enhancing both the speed and precision of diagnostics.

Artificial intelligence integration further boosts diagnostic capabilities, with the system processing images quickly, allowing for higher patient throughput and aiding physicians in complex diagnoses. About Mohamad J. Mansour, MD, DRCPSC, FESC

Dr. Mansour is a non-invasive cardiologist specializing in multimodality cardiovascular imaging. He earned his MD, Internal Medicine, and Cardiology diplomas from the Lebanese University. He trained in Cardiology at the University Hospital of Brest, France, receiving an Inter-University Diploma in Cardiac and Vascular Imaging. He completed advanced fellowships in Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR), and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CCT) in Montreal. Certified by prestigious institutions like the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, SCMR, and SCCT, Dr. Mansour has expertise in stress imaging, interventional echocardiography, and structural heart disease. He currently serves as Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology at Clemenceau Medical Center (Johns Hopkins International affiliate) and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Balamand. He is also the EACVI Ambassador for Lebanon and a published researcher, serving on the editorial boards of leading journals.
