The United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) defines computer-assisted triage devices as computerized systems that are intended to reduce or eliminate an aspect of clinical care that is currently provided to a patient by a clinician (U.S. FDA). An example of computer-triage is software designed to reduce radiologist turnaround time for suspected intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) cases in non-contrast head CT scans.
